The Prestressed Concrete Products Site

Prestressed Concrete Products Company Inc. was incorporated in January of 1957, a year after the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway was built and opened for business. The bridge components had been made on site and floated out to where they were lifted by cranes and lowered into place onto the already awaiting pilings. The "assembly line" method of construction was credited for the rapid completion of the first bridge.

The new company sought to continue providing prestressed concrete components to bridge builders across the Gulf South. Officers of the company in 1957 were G. W. James, President; D. W. Milhan, Vice President, and D. E. Warfield, Treasurer.
