After years of having to use a ferry barge to cross the Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, the state decided to build a proper bridge in 1934. A series of photographs depicting the building of the "James T. Burns" Bridge over the Tchefuncte River in Madisonville was taken in 1935. As found on the Louisiana Digital Archives, here they are.
