When A Ground Breaking Becomes A Mud Sloshing
Groundbreakings are supposed to be celebratory ceremonies, signifying the commitment to build something new and productive for the community. But after a heavy rain, the groundbreaking sometimes turns into a mud-sloshing, as it did on a January day in 1973 with Governor Edwin Edwards and a host of other local business and political leaders.
