Lake Ramsey Campgrounds

Just a few miles north of Covington is Lake Ramsey, a 500 acre body of water that at one time was the site of a family campground. It is now a residential subdivision. The lake offers eight miles of shoreline and is fed by a deep free-flowing artesian well.

The development borders the Tchefuncte River and is almost surrounded by the 796 acre Lake Ramsey Savannah Wildlife Management Area (owned by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries) as well as the Nature Conservancy's Longleaf Pine Flatwood Savanna, which comprises another 583 acres.

Here is a photograph I took from the air of Lake Ramsey in 1975. Click on the image to make it appear larger.
