Lee Lane Photos From The Past

Over the years I have taken many photographs of the people and stores on Lee Lane in Covington. Here are some of them from the 1970's and 80's. Click on the images to make them larger.

Just up the street from Lee Lane was the Bogue Falaya Plaza shopping mall.

In the mid-1970's, when Lee Lane shops were first getting established, there were some parking problems. The shops needed parking spaces for their  customers and the residents living on Lee Lane didn't want to give up any of their parking spaces. It prompted several petitions, city council appearances, and letters to the editor.

Lee Lane was at that time known as "North Lee Road," and one of the requests of the new business owners was that it would be changed to Lee Lane, since North Lee Road really did not fit the two blocks between Rutland St. and Gibson St.
