Special ceremonies in observance of Veterans Day were held in the front of the St. Tammany Justice Center in Covington Saturday morning, November 11, 2023. Dozens of veterans from several branches of the Armed Forces attended and were honored.

Emceed by Joseph P. Untz II, commander of the American Legion Post No. 16, the event featured a number of speeches by dignitaries, patriotic songs by Emily Vennen, the presentation of the colors by the St. Tammany Veterans Honor Guard, and special remarks by representatives of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations and the American Legion Auxiliary.
From left to right, Joseph P. Untz II, City Councilman Larry Rolling, Ken Diebold covering the POW/MIA Chair,Emily Vennen who sang God Bless America and the Star Spangled Banner, and Tiffany McGary Cyprian, who told about the Welcome Ministries Community House for homeless veterans.
From left to right are Dennis W. Charlesworth, Vice-Commander with the American Legion Post, Matthew Williams with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8720 who read the poem "In Flander's Field," Lane Carson with the St. Tammany Veterans Foundation, Guest Speaker Scott Nowicki, and Post Chaplain Richard Perl.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the American Heritage Girls.
The Honor Guard gave a 12 gun salute.

A large number of visitors were in the audience for the occasion.
