Columbia Street in downtown Covington is the most historic street on the Northshore. How many wagons filled with goods and produce from Holmesville and Columbia, Mississippi, came rolling down Columbia Street over the years, taking food and other necessary items down to the landing on the Bogue Falaya River. There they were loaded onto cargo boats and taken across Lake Pontchartrain to the growing city of New Orleans.
Here are some photographs taken along Columbia Street this morning.

Columbia Street Landing
On the 1935 map below Boston Street is marked in red, Lee Road and Lee Lane are marked in yellow, and Columbia Street is marked in blue. In 1935, the north end of Columbia Street was still referred to as the "Holmesville Road," since it had been a major trade route to Holmesville, Mississippi.
