Sgt. Mario Arthur Recognized in 1972

 In May of 1972 Sgt. Mario Arthur with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department was honored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Tammany for his outstanding work in law enforcement. Click on the image below to make it larger and more readable. 


Mario Salvadore Arthur, Sr. was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Mandeville for most of his life. He was a graduate of LSU in Criminal Justice and retired from the Navy in 1968. He was the former Police Chief of Mandeville from 1967-1969, retired Chief of Detectives with the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office in 1980, retired from Mandeville Police Dept. as Assistant Chief of Police in 1985, and retired from the St. Tammany District Attorney’s Office in 2001 as Chief Investigator.

He was a member of the Germania Masonic Lodge No. 46, American Legion Post 415, Louisiana Sheriffs Assn., Louisiana Peace Officers Assn., Louisiana Municipal Police Officer Assn. and Louisiana District Attorney’s Assn.

He died on on Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at 76 years of age.
