Three pictures from 1941-1942 were posted to Facebook recently by Kitty Heintz Pusateri, and they showed a wagon and cars on Columbia Street in Covington at its intersection with Gibson Street. Here they are.
Clilck on the images to make them larger.
The first one shows a family on a horse-drawn wagon heading west on Gibson Street, with the "Corner Drugs" store sign on the two-story brick building that once housed Maison-Nez beverages store and now is home to Gulf Coast Lanterns. The two-story wooden building in the background is Uly's Bar, which occupied the space that now serves as the Dependable Glass parking lot and condominiums.
The view northward up Columbia Street towards its intersection with Gibson Street.
The children on the wagon are identified as Kitty Heintz Pusateri, Gayle Planche Cunningham, and David Bulloch. The railroad tracks running down Gibson Street are visible in this photo.
