Youth Wellness Fair Held in Covington

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Covington presented its annual Youth Wellness Fair at the Covington Trailhead this Saturday, April 16, with more than a dozen booths staffed by local health and community organizations, offering games, prizes, and fun for all.

The petting zoo featured baby pigs, goats, puppies and chicks and proved to be one of them most popular attractions, though the Easter egg hunt also drew a crowd, several times throughout the day. Members of the Covington Fire Department, the Louisiana State Police and the St. Tammany Coroner's Office were available with information on fire safety, child seat installation, and baby crib safety.

There were basketball toss games, a bike riding course, and information on Covington organizations such as the recreation department, and HeadStart.  Participants in the fair included the Boy Scouts of America, Istrouma Area Council; Christ Episcopal Summer Sports, the West St. Tammany YMCA, the Mayor's Council on Healthy Lifestyles, the Boys & Girls Club of Covington, the St. Tammany Health System Pediatrics, St. Tammany Health System Parenting Center, the St. Tammany Parish Library, and James Samaritan.
