The Madisonville Lighthouses

Next time you are in Madisonville, stop by the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum, where one of the most interesting displays is a collection of small-scale dioramas of Lighthouses around Lake Pontchartrain. The boats and the history of maritime activities around the lake is a central focus, but the land-based structures that kept those boats safe were the lighthouses. Imagine the stories these lakeside sentinels could tell.
