Church In A Dome

 In 1986 a Catholic Church mission in Bush, LA, opened its new building, a geodesic dome. It had been a longtime vision by the Priest Rev. Francis Sander, pastor of the St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church in Abita Springs. Here are some photographs of the unique structure and news articles printed at the time.

Five years earlier, in 1982, the mission church was housed in a rectangular metal building built with the help of volunteers.

CHS Class of '74 Celebrates in Covington

 The Covington High School Class of 1974 celebrated its 50th anniversary reunion in Covington last night, meeting at the Boston Street Pub. Here are some photographs from that occasion.

Abita Fly-In Features Food Trucks

 Hundreds of people turned out Saturday, Sept. 28, for the special Fly-In and Food Trucks event at St. Tammany Regional Airport east of Abita Springs. Hosted by Abita Skies Aviation, the new fixed base operator at the airport, the gathering brought together a wide variety of aircraft, aviation enthusiasts, and families out for a fascinating airport visit under beautiful blue skies.
