The Oak Trees of 21st Avenue

When Covington area residents think of beautiful oak trees, usually Jahncke Avenue comes to mind. However, the oak trees along 21st Avenue, especially between Jefferson Avenue and Tyler Street, are certainly among the most scenic in the city.

Here are some photographs of those trees, taken during the time of year, early Spring, just before their leaves come in full coverage so we can better see the twistings and turnings of their huge trunks and limbs. Click on the images to make them larger.

Some of these oak trees are old enough to have seen the Indians live and hunt and traverse the area and the coming of the early explorers of the Florida Parishes.
