Back in September of 2011 Covington Elementary School second graders Calli Flocke and Abigail Byron enjoyed reading the story “Mr. Poppers Penguins”. In the story Mr. Poppers enjoys having tea and crumpets at tea time each day.
Ms. Scherer decided having tea and crumpets, sugar cookies would be a wonderful experience for her children. They discussed and charted how their experience was the same and different as Mr. Poppers. They discussed the difference customs and location of Mr. Poppers home. The class also worked on good table conversation and table etiquette.
A “jolly” good time was had by all.
