School Group Poses in 1897


Taken in 1897 at the Paul Townsend home near the Joe Laird Store in Ramsay north of Covington, this picture shows a school group taught by Byron Chambers (tall man standing at left). The picture includes James A. Thompson (kneeling third from left) who later became Ward Three police juror. Others in the picture are Fred, Annie and Andrew Thompson; Oscar Jourdan; Esther, Bentia and Herman Bruhl; Emma, Dee, and Adolph Booth; Lillie and Jack Jenkins; Loretta Kinnerman; Louise Brumfield; August Gotti and Julia and Mamie Buttersmith.
