Text from the above paragraph:
Public sentiment and the usual interest in mineral springs have contrived to bring into the park system Abita Springs State Park at Abita Springs. It is a small but beautiful area containing the mineral spring and fine picnic spots.
The old pavilion visited by thousands in years gone by, has been extensively repaired and put into very good shape. A new picnic shelter containing public restrooms was completed early in the summer.
Barbeque pits and picnic tables are scattered throughout the park at convenient locations. A large wading pool for small children has been completed. Its source of water is a deep artesian well which constantly flows through the pool.

A 1950 report noted that Abita Park was acquired in 1949, a total of six acres
Local children and their parents enjoyed the improvements made to the park. Here are some photos of a wading pool party behind Abita Springs Grammar School taken in 1952 of the Ducros-Wallace-Blanchard families. If you look closely you can see the school in the background.
